GMM Music has firmed up a “strategic investment” deal with Warner Music Asia, with the aim of bringing Thai music to a wider international audience.
The deal, disclosed on 14 August, will see GMM Music tap on Warner’s global music distribution system. It will help GMM Music “generate higher revenue from the global market”, the label adds.

Warner Music has a presence in Thailand: they managed a number of T-Pop artistes – like Jeff Satur and D Gerrard – under sub-label Wayfer Records.
Under the partnership, GMM Music and Warner will also expand their artiste management business and develop new music from artistes from both companies.
The two firms will also invest in a “joint venture operation”, with plans to start up a new record label, and develop new artistes.
The “strategic alliance” will “help elevate the infrastructure of the Thai music industry”, says GMM Music.
It is the latest partnership GMM Music has entered into in recent months. In June, Chinese tech giant Tencent and its music unit Tencent Music acquired a 10% stake in the company in a $70 million deal.
