What’s a party without music? This Pride Month, we pick out our faves that go loud and the ones that hold a special place in our heart. Got a favourite too? Let us know!
1. Alie Blackcobra – แอ่นระแนง (ARCH)
Alie Blackcobra, whose real name is Karint Aongchum, achieved fame through her YouTube channel @AlieBlackcobra, but her newest single is set to make her star power grow. The song is irreverant to its core, with lyrics that reads ‘Baby, I want something big, ah, something that I can lick‘. Mm-hmm.
2. MATCHA – Music Lover
The unofficial gay anthem of the Y2K period gets a revival, thanks to White Fox’s Matcha, whose version adds a layer of sensuality to the original song. If a glass of Mimosa were a song, this would be it.
3. BADMIXY (featuring SIN) – โอ้ละหนอไอ้แฟนเก่า
It would not be a Pride playlist without the inclusion of community icon BADMIXY, who recently started her own record label to help groom the next generation of LGBTQ artistes. We love this track not just because of the eye-candy (hello bare bodies!) but also for the soothing vocals of queer performer SIN.
4. Taitosmith (featuring Ben Chalatit) – ไอ้สอง
While the pairing of rockers TaitosmitH and Ben Chalatit is out of the blue, the earnest message of this track – to embrace yourself for who you really are – is not an unfamiliar theme.
5. PiXXiE – FEAT
It may be new, but we believe PiXXiE’s FEAT will be a mainstay at the clubs, thanks to its infectious beat, almost-naughty lyrics (‘Your lips, my lips, your lips feat my lips’), and eaasy-to-follow dance moves.
6. 4EVE – Hot 2 Hot
Catchy beat aside, this track’s use of fans is a really great to practice that fano-graphy. Now to find that perfect fan…
7. PP Krit – Fire Boy
This song set the charts on fire (geddit?) for weeks on end, and rightfully deserves a place on our playlist. PP Krit, is also without a doubt, one of this generation’s fiercest queer icon.
8. SILVY – IDGCHA (ไม่เก็ตอ่า..)
This one’s definitely for the clubs. Silvy Pavida’s super catchy-sounding track might only be weeks old and relatively under the radar, but we love the in-your-face message to the haters – you don’t have to try and get each other so live your life to its fullest!
9. Gene Kasidit – เก็บคำว่ารัก (ONS)
Gene may not have any new music recently, but this electro-pop track will always remain a queer classic.
10. SPRITE BABABI – ต๊าช (TASH)
In many ways, ต๊าช walked so many of the high-energy campy tracks for Pride could run today. Infectious beat, super simple dance, and a very catchy chorus. Let’s ต๊าช!
11. Aof Pongsak – อยากเจิดจรัสต้องดัดจริต (feat. Pangina Heals)
Aof’s newest track, released in time for Pride month, features drag royalty, in the form of Drag Race Thailand host Pangina Heals. Definitely one for the clubs!
