BILLKIN wrapped up his Feelquency Tour with a final showcase in Singapore on 6 June, returning to the city after more than two years.
The two-hour concert, held at the Arena @ Expo, was packed with plenty of BILLKIN’s hits, both new releases and familiar classics given a fresh spin.
The concert also included an impressive number of covers of English songs that showcased the 26-year-old’s vocal range and slick moves.
Despite being on a smaller scale than his sold-out Feelquency Concert in Bangkok earlier this year, BILLKIN spared no effort in set and costume design (we counted at least four outfit changes!), and even brought along a brass band.
The singer-actor kept the energy up through the night, effortlessly weaving between high-tempo covers and slower ballads – all while singing live. BILLKIN also impressed fans with his moves (we did not know he had it in him!), at times even channelling his inner MJ.
Singapore is the final stop of the Feelquency Tour, after BILLKIN cancelled the remaining two stops – Hong Kong and Seoul.
The poignancy of the tour ending was not lost on BILLKIN.
At one point in the concert, BILLKIN said embarking on the Feelquency Tour was a journey “where I learnt…experimented and grew up”.
“It has brought me to a whole new place,” he adds.
At another point, a visibly emotional BILLKIN said it was “an incredible pleasure to get an opportunity to be myself…and also get the support from many people”.
“It has been one of the most important chapters of my life,” he said to the hushed concert hall.
To further underscore the point, BILLKIN covered two songs to full emotional effect: Sinatra’s My Way and – a Singapore stop special – Adele’s All I Ask.
As BILLKIN ends his concert, he had one more trick up his sleeve: an encore that had fans on their feet.
As some fans slowly streamed out of the concert, others noticed the band (and some dancers) still on stage. This turned into a chant for an encore, which – we later learnt – BILLKIN gamely agreed to do.
Topping it off, BILLKIN gamely got off stage, and into the middle of the front audience zone, where he briefly shook the hands of many starstruck fans.
Talk about closing with a bang.
