It was at HYBS’s farewell concert that James Alyn first came across the phrase “Now and Ever”.

It has stuck with him ever since – so much so that it is now the name of his newly-release solo comeback track.

Alyn released the English-language track Now and Ever on 11 June, marking his return as a solo artiste. He speaks to ChaPop about the new single, his comeback, and his plans for the not-so-distant future.

On Now and Ever, Alyn, who is signed to Juicey, says inspiration hit during the concert: “I felt like I wanted to cherish my fans and that (concert) moment now and forever.”

He adds: “Everything else I wrote from my own personal experience and feelings – when you find that special someone, you want to love them now and ever.”

Alyn says he enjoyed the entire song creation process, from writing to shooting the music video, which has earned plaudits from fans for its cinematic storytelling.

“The only challenge, I would say, was that it was really hot on the shooting day and we were wearing leather jackets, but everyone put their hearts into it and really gave their all. It turned out beautifuly thanks to them,” he tells ChaPop.

Alyn’s return as a solo artiste feels different this time – visually at least. For one, the 29-year-old now sports eye-catching copper hair (we learn it is his first time dyeing his hair!) a change from the black ‘do in previous years.

While he says he remains just as excited as he was in his earlier solo days, Alyn now feels he is reaching more international fans.

“I’ll continue to do my best,” he says.

He also confirms a tour – both in Thailand and internationally – are in the works, with several dates already confirmed and to be announced soon.

“I’m also working on more music so I definitely have something down the line,” he adds.

Alyn says it is likely the new music will continue to be in English. “I’ve always been more comfortable writing in English. When I was releasing Thai songs (in the past), I was releasing English songs as well.”

But he does not rule out the occasional Thai track: “If people want to hear me sing in Thai maybe I will again – anything can happen!”
