Actor-singer Gemini Norawit has apologised for dismissive remarks made about popular mascot Butterbear.
In a broadcast on X (formerly known as Twitter) on 9 August, the GMMTV and Riser Music star made dismissive remarks about Butterbear, whose popularity has skyrocketed in recent months.
He was in the broadcast with fellow stars from the GMMTV series My Love Mix-up, where he has a leading role opposite Fourth Nattawat. Among other things, he said his “work gets stolen by a bear” – a reference to the endorsements picked up by the mascot.

Online users quickly seized on the comments, calling the 20-year-old out for what they felt were remarks that were uncalled for.
On 10 August, Gemini apologised, saying he was sorry “that his words affected many people’s feelings”.
“From now on, I will be more careful with my words to prevent this kind of incident from happening again,” he writes, adding that he had “no bad intentions” towards the popular mascot.
A follow-up post also offers an apology to Butterbear.
The statement was met with support from Gemini’s fans, many of whom felt he did the right thing to apologise. However, other online users felt the apology came off as sounding insincere, with some noting this was not the first time he has apologised for making inappropriate comments.
