BUS Because of you I shine were among the big winners at the annual MChoice and Mint Awards 2024, which also saw top honours given to the now-disbanded group 9×9.
The Sonray Music boy group scored in two categories: Entertainment Progam of the Year for their info-tainment show Bussing Thailand, as well as Rookie of the Year (Music), which was open to a public vote.
Bussing Thailand, which aired its last episode on 7 September, shows the 12-member boy group embark on a series of trips to different parts of the country to complete different ‘missions’.
Meanwhile, the group won the lion’s share of public votes for Rookie of the Year – at more than 77% – beating out groups like DICE (also from Sonray) and VIIS.
In a brief social media post, the group thanked organisers Mint Magazine and MChoice for the awards, as well as their fans for always supporting them.
Meanwhile, 9×9 won the Inspiration Award at the event, which was held on 7 September.
The nine-member group started in 2018 as a joint project between the now-shuttered 4nologue Music and Nadao Bangkok.
Besides music, the group also took part in several acting projects, including the popular series In Family We Trust and Great Men Academy.
A year later, they disbanded when the project was formally ended. Four members – Porsche Sivakorn, Jackie Jackrin, Third Lapat and James Teeradon – later formed Trinity, with James leaving in 2021.
9×9’s win at the Mint Awards prompted fans to reminisce about the group’s past, with many commenting how nice it was to see (most of) the group reunited on stage.
Another winner that had fans gushing was the ever-popular Butterbear, who won Phenomenon of the Year.
The cute mascot caused a buzz – literally – with its entrance dressed as a bee.
