Actor-singer PP Krit has clarified his relationship with the troubled e-commerce firm iCon Group, which has come under fire in recent days amid fraud allegations.
In a statement issued 11 October, PP, through his agency PP Krit Entertainment, says he was “not involved…in the management” of the company, despite being one of its product ambassadors.
He adds that he “has never participated in any meetings or activities in the company” other than those related to his contract.
PP had fronted the marketing campaign for iCon’s ‘Boom iZ’ eye supplement between June 2022 and May 2023. His roles included taking – and posting on his social media accounts – photos of the product and attending the product launch event.
He adds that he accepted the work at the time after “considering the standards of the products had been properly certified by the relevant government agencies”.
PP is among a group of Thai artistes who have come under scrutiny amid the fallout at iCon Group, which is known for using celebrities to endorse its products.
More than 80 investors had lodged police reports alleging that they had lost more than 31 million THB as dealers in the company’s products. They also claimed they were promised high returns as dealers.
Another celebrity to be implicated is renowned Workpoint TV host Kan Kantathavorn, who is featured heavily in marketing materials.
Kan says he would be recuse himself from hosting duties as police investigations continue. Workpoint TV has confirmed that he is suspended with immediate effect.
