T-Pop’s newest act Véra are not your usual girl group. For one, its members comprise cabin crew and ground staff of low-cost carrier Thai AirAsia.

The five-member group, comprising Pleng, Mind, Min, Aimma and Genne, made their debut on 21 March, with a glitzy debut show in Bangkok’s Siam Square.

Their debut single Tick-Tock (Say It), produced and written by pop duo LUSS, is a “powerful message about the value of time”, says Thai AirAsia.

“(It reminds) us that while the clock keeps ticking, we should seize the moment and make bold decisions, and carve our own path, instead of  waiting for something that isn’t right,” it adds.

It is the first time that AirAsia is debuting a new artiste comprising its own staff. Thai AirAsia commercial director Tansita Akrarittipirom says: “At AirAsia, we encourage our employees to showcase their talents in all aspects. The debut of ‘Véra’ allows them to bring their hidden potential to the stage.”

For instance, leader Pleng, who is also a flight attendant, was a former member of the 2010s T-Pop group GAIA.

Still, the airline says the group is not hanging up their wings just yet.

“Even as they step into the entertainment scene, the five members will continue their excellent roles as AirAsia guest service staff and cabin crew onboard,” says AirAsia.
