Third time’s not the charm – for the hip-hop music festival Rolling Loud Thailand, that is.
After months of silence, organisers on 1 October confirmed that this year’s edition – the festival’s third – would be cancelled, citing “circumstances beyond our control”.
Rolling Loud Thailand was set to have taken place on 14-16 November this year, and would have been the festival’s third edition since its launch in 2023.
Past editions saw Thai hip-hop stars like Milli, URBOYTJ, 1MILL and Twopee in its line-up, alongside Western and other Asian hip-hop and rap artistes.
Early-bird tickets for the 2025 edition went on sale in November 2024, but organisers had not disclosed the line-up. A three-day general admission ticket cost US$200 or THB 6,900, at the early-bird sale.
Since then, organisers were unusually quiet, despite growing queries from fans in recent months about the line-up – and the status of the festival. The social media pages went silent from July without any new posts – until the 1 October announcement.
There had also been speculation that this year’s festival would not take place, but organisers did not clarify the rumours.
A BK Magazine report, citing an unnamed source close to the festival, states the issues at Rolling Loud’s Thai partner More Return had “spilled over” onto the festival. More Return has been implicated in an ongoing fraud case, with the company alleged to have been involved in stock manipulation and other financial crimes.
Following the cancellation announcement, fans took to social media to express their frustration, with many stating that flights and hotels had aleady been booked for the period. Several others blasted organisers for not disclosing the cancellation earlier.
Those who have purchased tickets can request for a refund and will be contacted on how to file a request.
