Tero Radio has announced it would be shutting down, ending the broadcasts of its four stations, including the pop-focused stations HITZ Thailand and Goodtime Radio.
The four stations, which also comprise Asian pop station TofuPop and international station Eazy FM, will end their broadcast on 31 December.
In a statement issued early 27 December, Tero Radio blames “shifting trends in media consumption” for the closure, adding that it has faced “significant challenges that have made it impossible for us to continue”.
“We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who has supported us through the year, as well as our incredible team, and all the listeners throughout the world who have enjoyed all of our stations,” the company adds.
Tero Radio has been in operation for over 30 years. Flagship station HITZ was formerly known as Virgin Hitz 95.5 – a joint venture with the UK’s Virgin Radio – before changing its name to Hitz 95.5 and subsequently HITZ Thailand.
Tero Radio is also the sister company to Tero Entertainment, which manages a slate of Thai artistes like Slot Machine, Bedroom Audio and Ben Chalatit.
