Only Monday has confirmed their departure from their label Gene Lab, as investigations into an explicit video scandal continue.
In an update posted 24 February, the three-member band says their contract with Gene Lab expired on 21 February.
Only Monday were offered by GMM Music – the parent of Gene Lab – a contract renewal from 22 February, but the band declined, citing ongoing investigations.
The move means Only Monday is now left without a label.
The band was plunged into controversy in December last year, after explicit images and clips involving the band’s frontman Tee Teepakorn and his ex-girlfriend, known as ‘Bell’.
Amid speculation that Tee that had leaked these images and clips online, Gene Lab on 4 December pulled the plug on the band, cancelling all pre-booked engagements and pulling all of the band’s music from all streaming platforms.
On 5 December, Tee broke his silence and insisted he was not the one who leaked the clips, adding that he had filed a police report on the matter.
In their latest update, Only Monday confirms that investigations are still ongoing, and “discussions are still being held”.
The band also confirms it had filed a request with GMM Music to reinstate their music on all streaming platforms, and are awaiting a response.
“Currently, we’re not affiliated with any record label, but we still love music, want to play music, and are asking for an opportunity to return to work as freelance musicians to support ourselves and our families,” writes Only Monday.
