Two T-Pop girl groups have announced their disbandment on the same day, in a double-whammy that surprised many fans.
Rising Entertainment group EMPRESS announced they would be parting ways at the end of the year, following the termination of contracts of five of its members.
The five EMPRESS members – Jackpot, Natt, Carys, Tonkhao and Tawan – will end their contracts with the label on 1 April, while the sixth members Bell will remain contract with Rising Entertainment.
Group activities will continue until the end of the year, following which the group will part ways.
“All members have shown great dedication throughout their journey, and we wish them every success in their future paths,” states Rising Entertainment.
The group was formed in late-2023, making waves with their infectious debut track Blah Blah Blah in early 2024, which leans heavily into Brazilian funk and rap.
EMPRESS would release four more singles, most recently the upbeat Rizz Me Up. They have not released new music this year.
Separately, four-member group RedSpin also revealed their disbandment – hours after EMPRESS’ announcement.
Wynn Entertainment, which manages the group, confirms the group will part ways after their contract ends on 1 June. The decision was made after “careful discussions and mutual consideration”.
“It has been collectively agreed that all four members will conclude their activities as RedSpin and each will move forward to pursue new paths in accordance with their individual goals,” the agency adds.
RedSpin will be holding a farewell fancon in July, with further details to be revealed soon.
The group made their debut in late-2019 with the single แฟนโซน (FANZONE), making them one of the longest surviving T-Pop girl groups. The group originally comprised six members, but two members left the group in 2021 and 2023.
The disbandment of the two groups follows a string of girl groups splitting in 2025, including MXFRUIT and QRRA.
