BUS Because of you I shine has cancelled two stops in its Asia tour, citing “unforeseen circumstances” weeks before they kick off the tour.
The Sonray Music boy group will no longer be performing in Singapore (5 June) and Manila (24 May), as part of their BUS The 1st Asia Fancon Tour: The First Light.
In a statement, the group says the tour will continue in other cities as planned. BUS is due to perform in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul and Taipei in May.
Sonray Music did not elaborate what the reasons for cancellation were. It would only say: “We sincerely apologise to fans in both cities for the disappointment and inconvenience caused.”
Fans in both cities took to social media to express their disappointment in the decision. Some fans questioned the timing of the cancellations, with just over a month to the show, while others pressed Sonray for the exact reasons for cancellation.
Thai fans also took to social media to voice their displeasure, many having booked flights and hotels in the two cities to catch the concert.
The BEUS, one of the group’s largest fanclubs, issued a statement urging Sonray Music to provide a “transparent explanation of actual reasons behind the cancellation”, alongside an official apology.
In its statement, the fanclub also states: “What measures does the company have in place to care for the feelings of the fans affected by this incident, and what are the guidelines to prevent future situations that hurt fans’ feelings and reduce trust in the label from happening again?”
Sonray on 1 May broke its silence on the matter, reiterating that the cancellations were “due to circumstances beyond our control”, which it says “affected our ability to proceed with the shows in two cities”.
It did not reveal – again – the reasons for the cancellations.
However, it says its artistes and team are “deeply saddened that they are unable to meet fans as planned”.
The cancellations come at a critical time for the 12-member boy group, which has on previous occasions voiced its ambitions to go international.
In 2025, the group told ChaPop it was hoping to expand its fanbase overseas, hinting at an eventual international tour.
This story has been updated on 1 May with statements from The BEUS and Sonray Music.
