Several T-Pop artistes have hailed the passing of a landmark marriage equality bill as a positive step forward for the LGBTQ+ community.

Thai lawmakers on 27 March passed the bill with an overwhelming majority in the lower house of parliament, putting the country a step closer to legalising same-sex marriage.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), several artistes applauded the news, sharing the hashtag ‘#สมรสเท่าเทียม’.

In post reshared over 7,000 times, Jeff Satur says: “We have a right to love and now every love is getting close to have a right to be protected by the laws.”

BUS (because of you I shine) member ‘Khunpol’ Pongpol Panyamit, meanwhile, writes: “Congratulations on this new step in equality for the LGBTQ+ community.” He adds that he is “glad” and “thankful” to all who have helped to push for the law.

Label-mate DICE’s ‘Apo’ Wachirakon Raksasuwan adds: “I would like to come out and speak as an LGBTQIA+ person…Let the (marriage equality) law be a matter of equality, not just gender. I’m very happy today, really very happy.”

He also jokingly replied to ‘Khunpol”s post, stating that despite the bill soon becoming law, he has “no one to register” marriage with, to which the BUS member told him to take it easy.

4MIX’s openly-queer member Ninja also applauded the move, writing on X: “The law must support all lives equally. Congratulations to all soulmates.”

On Instagram, more artistes reshared news reports of the passing of the marriage equality bill.

Former Laz1 member ‘Daou’ Pittaya Saechua, who is on holiday in the Maldives, writes on Instagram Story: “We almost reach (sic) it”.

The bill now needs approval from the Senate and the King, before enshrined into law.
