Production house GDH is set to release ‘How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies’ (หลานม่า), which stars singer ‘Billkin’ Putthipong Assaratanakul, to international cinemas from May.
The movie, a tearjerker about the meaning of family, will hit Indonesian cinemas on 15 May. It will then be released in the Philippines on 29 May; Laos, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei on 30 May; Vietnam on 7 June; Cambodia on 18 June; followed by Taiwan on 21 June.
GDH also intends to screen the movie in Australia and New Zealand, Mainland China, Hong Kong and South Korea, but has not fixed a release date yet.
The movie was released in Thai cinemas on 4 April, and quickly became the country’s highest grossing movie of the year. As at mid-April it was on track to hit 300 million THB in ticket sales.
It is not difficult to see why: at its gala premiere in Bangkok, there was hardly a dry eye from guests emerging from the cinema.
‘Billkin’ plays the role of M, a third-generation Chinese-Thai who takes care of his cancer-stricken grandmother not out of love, but with the intention of gaining her inheritance. Along the way, the duo grow closer and M learns that family means more than money.
