Singer-actor ‘Bright’ Vachirawit has made history as the first Thai artiste to set foot in the iconic Met Gala in New York.

The Cloud9 Entertainment artiste graced the Met Gala red carpet on 6 May, oozing swag in a custom-made Burberry suit.

He joined other Asian celebrities – like K-Pop group Stray Kids, and Blackpink member Jennie Kim – to attend the fashion industry’s biggest night, which is co-organised by Vogue magazine.

The 26-year-old’s presence at the annual soiree had been kept under wraps: there was no mention of the Met Gala in his weekly schedule on social media. He only posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) on 6 May: “Good morning from NY”.

In fact, Bright had only just performed at the Cosmos Bear Festival in Bangkok on 4 May, capping off a busy week that included press engagements for the upcoming ‘The Kingdoms’ Concert in June.

The annual Met Gala is held at New York’s Metropolitan Musuem of Art, and this year’s dress code is ‘The Garden of Time’ – an ode to “fleeting beauty”, according to Vogue.
