XOXO Entertainment boy group ATLAS held their first-ever solo concert, showcasing not just their impressive catalogue of music, but also how far they have come since their debut nearly three years ago.
ATLAS Concert The 1st Journey took place at Thunder Dome, Muang Thong Thani on 3 August. Tickets were snapped up in mere hours after going on sale, as fans eagerly anticipated a concert that was a long time coming.
The space odyssey-themed showcase – a nod to their debut single Mayday Mayday – saw the seven members of ATLAS sing, dance and wow fans with their showmanship, performing hit after hit like มังคุด (Mangosteen), Boyfriend and their latest release เข็ดมั้ยล่ะ? (Repeat).
Rap sensation Milli made a guest appearance too, performing her single Sad Aerobic, and getting the boys dancing along to her latest single Sorry – all while engaging in banter with the audience.
Then came the solo segments, where fans were treated to performances from each member.
Member Nice Vitchapol blew everyone’s minds away with his cover of Michael Jackson’s Smooth Criminal, complete with an uncanny impression of the late legend’s moves, topping it off with a series of backflips.
He would later repeat the act, this time performing six continuous somersaults as the group performed My Treasure, prompting comments online that he was a shoo-in to represent Thailand for gymnastics at the next Olympics.
Fellow group-mate Junior Napat set the stage on fire with a sizzling impression of the viral Timethai track Hit Me Up, complete with the bare-bodied dancing.
One of the many viral moments involved a roving “sing and dance cam” in the audience that landed on some extra-special guests. Chokun and Gun from Proxie, who were among the celebrities attending the concert, gamely (attempted) to dance the moves
As each member expressed their gratitude to their families, fans and their fellow bandmates, the tears fell freely as they reflected on their journey so far. Erwin Pennors gave an emotional tribute to his parents, as other groupmates fought to hold back tears.
It had been a long time coming for the boy group, but certainly won’t be their last.
