Rappers MILLI and YoungOhm emerged the biggest victors at the inaugural Sound of Thailand (SOT) Music Awards, which was held on 24 June.
Both artistes nabbed three wins each, with MILLI receiving the top honours as Artiste of the Year. She beat out nominees like YoungOhm, Ink Waruntorn and ASIA7.
The YUPP! Entertainment artiste was credited by the awards for “taking Thai music to a global level”.
MILLI was most recently the sole Thai contestant at South Korean rap competition Show Me The Money and emerged fourth place. She is also the only Thai artiste so far to perform at Coachella.
MILLI also clinched the award for Best Female Solo Artiste, as well as the Best R&B/Hip-Hop/Rap Song for Heavyweight.
Meanwhile, YoungOhm bagged the Album of the Year and Song of the Year awards, the latter for the popular trackใจฉันตามเธอไป.
The rapper, who was not present at the ceremony, was also named Best Solo Male Artiste, beating out other nominees like Jeff Satur and BILLKIN.
YoungOhm and MILLI were among the artistes with the most nominations at the SOT Music Awards, each securing five nominations.
BILLKIN, who was up for four awards, won two awards: Record of the Year and Pop Song of the year, for the I’m OK // Not OK collaboration with BOYdPOD.
The winners of this year’s SOT Music Awards are decided through a jury vote, comprising industry professionals such as other artistes, record labels and music production teams.
