GMMTV has announced the winners of its high school talent show Thailand School Star, wrapping up a three-month talent hunt.

The finals were shown on GMMTV’s social media channels on 23 October, featuring 20 finalists duking it out to be the male and female winners of the contest.

Eventually, it was 16-year-old Pun Saturom and 15-year-old Singha Luangsuntorn who emerged as male and female winner, respectively.

They will take home a cash prize of 50,000 THB as well as a contract with GMMTV.

The 20 finalists – 10 male and 10 female contestants – had to perform a talent show number. Singha, spotting a eye-catching pixie cut, performed an impressive drum solo, before singing, while Pun performed a light-hearted rap/spoken word number.

The finals was a star-studded event, attended by Thailand School Star alumni and other GMMTV artistes. Also present were executives from Riser Music.

This year’s Thailand School Star is the first edition in five years. The 2019 edition saw the then-15-year-old Fourth Nattawat emerge as the male winner of the show, alongside Earn Preeyaphat as its female champion. Both of them were signed to GMMTV as artistes subsequently.

Also taking part was Gemini Norawit, who did not win but would later debut alongside Fourth in the immensely popular series My School President. The duo would later become Riser Music artistes, each producing a number of popular hits.

Other notable names to have emerged include GMMTV actor-singers ‘Ford’ Allan Asawasuebsakul and ‘Satang’ Kittiphop.
