Riser Music artiste Nanon Korapat has taken his former manager to court, amid allegations of embezzlement.

In a statement issued on 29 October, Nanon, who is also a GMMTV actor, says he and his family will be taking legal action against the manager, who is not named.

The manager is alleged to have pocketed an unspecified amount in gifts and money, according to the statement. This happened after Nanon assigned the manager the sole responsibility of managing gifts from fans.

“My family and I…checked and found evidence that the amount of money and gifts…did not match the amount that this manager had reported,” says Nanon.

“There were many other amounts that my family and I had never known before.”

Nanon says he has informed GMMTV about the matter and that they “did not ignore it and immediately ordered (the manager’s) termination”.

It is unclear from the statement how long the alleged embezzlement took place or if any amounts were recovered. Nanon says he will not be answering any media queries until the legal case is concluded.

He adds that he decided to open up about the case as “it concerns all the fans who have supported me through gifts”.

“I feel sorry for what happened, and I hope…this will be a lesson to thoroughly examine every process in future. I hope this is also a lesson for other artistes to prevent this kind of incident from happening again,” states Nanon.

Following the release of the statement, fans rallied around the 23-year-old, offering words of comfort and support.
