Singer-actor NuNew has won the music artist of the year at the annual TikTok Awards Thailand 2024.
The DMD Music artiste garnered the most fan votes in the category, beating out other nominees like D Gerrard, Joey Phuwasit, country singer Lamyai Haithongkham, as well as girl group PiXXiE and boy group DICE.
The awards show, held on 2 November, also saw internet icon Juepak take home the award for Viral Song of the Year, for her ultra-catchy track เมร่อน.
The song – with its catchy chorus – was arguably the soundtrack to this year’s Songkran season, sparking a series of cover dances on TikTok.
Juepak faced strong competition in her category, which included other songs like Timethai’s Hit Me Up and Dreamgal’s Sorry.
The TikTok Awards Thailand are an annual affair, which mostly honours creators on the platform. In 2023, PP Krit won the Viral Song of the Year for Fire Boy, while Billkin took home the Music Artist of the Year award.
