Actor-singer Gemini Norawit has apologised after coming under fire for a social media post about the earthquake that hit Bangkok and parts of Thailand.
Writing on social media late on 28 March – the same day the devastating quake struck – the GMMTV artiste says he “did not have any bad intentions” in his post, but acknowledged that he was unaware of the “severity” of the situation.

The now-deleted video purportedly shows Gemini, who was at the airport bound for Macau, laughing and shaking his camera, with a caption: “Should I dance or be afraid?”
The post inmediately drew criticism from netizens, who felt Gemini was being insensitive about a grave matter. The intense tremors had caused the collapse of a building under construction in Bangkok, trapping many workers in it.
The capital city was also hit by power outages, with train lines shut out of safety concerns.
“I admit I did not feel the intensity (of the tremors) as I was on the ground floor (at the airport)…but as soon as I saw the news (that) the earthquake had affected many people, I was shocked and felt very guilty,” wrote Gemini, who was heading to Macau for the Gemini-Fourth Run The World tour.
“I apologise from the bottom of my heart once again…(this) is a lesson for me to learn. I hope everyone is safe,” he adds.
The apology cut no ice with some netizens, some of whom pointed out that this was not Gemini’s first social media controversy. In 2024, the 21-year-old drew ire with his dismissive comments about social media star Butterbear.
Gemini has not responded to the latest string of criticism, but has instead been re-sharing earthquake-related information.
