The annual Water War music festival made a splashing return in Chiang Mai over the Songkran weekend, bringing a wet and wild time in spite of brief showers.

The GMM Show-organised event took place on 13 April at Central Chiang Mai Airport, and touts itself the ‘The greatest water music festival in the North’.

By the looks of things, the music festival lived it to its name: nine artistes -ranging from T-Pop boy group PERSES, to bands like Mean and Three Man Down, as well as rock’s greatest names like Bodyslam, Slot Machine and Potato – amped up the energy through the evening.

Not even a brief downpour in the event could dampen the intensity – fans (and the bands) kept going through the night.

For this year’s Water War, organisers have chosen the theme of a ‘White Party’, and fans came dressed in their white best.

Organisers also tapped on the city’s five famous live music bars for food and drinks, adding to the local flavour.

Says GMM Show: “Thank you for all the good energy from Chiang Mai people and fans who came to have fun. See you again!”
