Girl group QRRA will be parting ways at the end of the year, capping off a five-year musical career, as the members pursue “new dreams and personal goals”.
The group’s agency Independent Artists Management says in a statement issued 1 October that the five-member group will be concluding all activities by December, when their contracts come to an end.
“After thoughtful discussion, all five members and the Independent Artists Management team have agreed that their activities as part of QRRA will conclude in order for them to pursue new dreams and personal goals,” the statement reads.
“We hope that every Peony will keep giving your love, strength and support as the members move forward into new paths, while cherishing the journey that the five of them have shared as QRRA,” the agency adds, referring to the group’s fandom.
To mark the end, the group will be releasing their sixth and final single, and hold a farewell concert. More details will be announced soon.
QRRA made their debut in 2020 as LYRA, a sub-unit of BNK48. Starting out with six members, the group saw several name and line-up changes through the years, eventually becoming QRRA in 2022 with five members.
The group has attained relative success since then with singles like Miracle and Happy We Day.
QRRA is the latest girl group to disband this year: in January, the XOXO Entertainment group Venita parted ways.
Then in June, three-member group Pretzelle disbanded. At the end of the year, MXFRUIT – from the label ILY LAB – will also be parting ways.
