PERSES has officially launched UNCENSORED Solo Project, a special project featuring the solo works of each of the group’s five members that reflects their individuality and personality.
Kickstarting the project is Jung PERSES, who released FLY, a special collaboration with hip-hop maestro F.HERO.
According to Jung, the collaboration came about by a chance encounter at the GMM Grammy building (where GNEST is located).
“Before long, he asked to listen to a demo I had made. From that day on, we started talking, exchanging ideas, refining the demo, adjusting the beat, and continuously developing the song together,” says Jung.
The track is about chasing your dreams, never giving up even when faced with obstacles or challenges, he adds.
Jung was heavily involved in the creative process as the track’s executive producer, helping to co-write and design its sound direction. Rapper Autta helped in writing, while F.HERO contributed his own verses to the track.
The track’s release was not without debate: shortly after its release, sharp-eyed netizens noted several similarities in the MV and key visual concepts with that of Yeonjun from K-Pop group TXT.
The discussion prompted GNEST to issue two statements addressing the issue, noting that while JUNG had been sent “reference images” while working on the single’s promotional plan, he – and the label – were not aware of its source, or that it was from K-Pop.
Nonetheless, GNEST has acknowledged the “shortcoming in our working process”, including not verifying the images before using them.
The UNCENSORED Solo Project will run up until the group’s upcoming concert in October, with all five members expected to have released their works by then.
The PERSES UNCENSORED Concert will take place on 3 October this year at BITEC Live in Bangkok. Tickets will go on sale 8 August.
