New music this week (17-23 June)
1. ถ้าคิดถึงเธอขึ้นมา – Guncharlie
Following the success of เผื่อวันไหนเธอจะกลับมา, 22-year-old guncharlie is back with his newest single. According to the Kicks Records artiste, he drew inspiration for the track from fan comments, who said they wanted to send his songs to their ex-lover, but were afraid to do so, because they didn’t want to be annoying, or were afraid they had moved on.
2. พบรัก – Ink Waruntorn
The latest track from Ink Waruntorn talks about love at first sight – and just from looking through one’s eyes. This is the kind of track that gives us warm tingly feelings – an overall feel-good romantic bop.
3. อาจจะเป็น (Perhaps) – Onglee Proxie
Onglee’s single rounds up Proxie’s series of solo projects. The ballad plays up the metaphor of a racecar driver – fastest at driving, but perhaps, slower in falling love.
4. ใครก็ได้แต่… (Millions People) – Nanon
Riser Music artiste Nanon returns with a note of gratitude to everyone who has supported him in every step of the way. We’re moved by the lyrics (Thank you for loving and accepting this man / I wouldn’t be where I am if it weren’t for you) and the images of his performances at packed arenas – including at his solo showcase at Thunder Dome earlier this year.
5. เก่งแต่ลับหลัง (FINSTA) – Zom Marie Ft. Punch 4EVE
As far as music videos go, this one is chock full of eye-candy, including from BUS because of you I shine members Heart and Jinwook. The track is a sweet bop, alluding to crushes and “saying it loud, how you feel”.
6. จีบให้จบ ๆ – VENITA
It has been a while since we last heard from XOXO Entertainment trio VENITA, but the group is back with new music. This time, it’s a cutesy and feel-good track also about crushes.
7. เอาไงครับ? (This or That?) – V3RSE
V3RSE is the newest boy group the White Music label, making their debut on 18 June with the track เอาไงครับ? (This or That?).
8. Too Much – ØzcarWang & Diamond Narakorn
Diamond, the former LAZ1 member, teamed up with Brazilian-Chinese artiste Øzcar Wang for this special collaboration. The English-Thai track sees the duo rock it out, with Diamond busting out slick rap lines in Thai mid-song.
9. แฉะ (WET) – JR Bubblegum feat Nxmpez
Songkran might be long past, but JR Bubblegum wants to keep us wet, wet, wet. We live for the catchy lyrics and the flawless dance (and did we mention the Spanish rap?)
10. Walk Walk – 4MIX
4MIX have released their first single for the year, an urban-electro track with an infectious beat that’s no stranger to the clubs.
11. ABC – Polycat
Polycat’s newest single is a sometimes-comical take on crushes, set to the plot of a movie/TV series set, where the stunt double is deeply infatuated with the director of photography, who is the object of affection of the male lead. Talk about complicated. (Also watch for the hilarious outro!)
SPECIAL MENTIONS
The week also saw a bumper crop of new OSTs from GMMTV – three alone from the series My Love Mix-up, featuring the talents of leading actors ‘Gemini’ Norawit and ‘Fourth’ Nattawat.
12. ไม่รู้ว่ามันเรียกว่ารักหรือเปล่า? (You’ve been on my mind) – GEMINI
13. ใครคนนั้น (Among many people) – Fourth
14. ไม่เป็นฉัน (What I’m looking for) – GEMINI
15. สถานีที่ศูนย์ (Station No.0) – Keen Suvijak
‘Keen’ Suvijak proves that while he may be new to acting, he has the singing chops to carry the Only Boo! series’ OST. This latest track, in particular, has moved many fans of the series with its emotive lyrics.
