After more than a year of inactivity, the Instagram account of now-defunct boy group LAZ1 sprang back to life – much to the surprise of fans.

The occasion? Former member Daou Pittaya celebrated his upcoming 27th birthday by calling together who else but his friends from the group: Offroad, Geler, Pentor and Diamond.

The five members posed for photos, with Daou holding his birthday cake. no words were needed: just two hearts, one blue and black (to represent the group’s official colours) in the caption.

This was enough to set the fandom (known as Lasers) into a frenzy.

“Thank you for the new year’s gift to all Lasers,” wrote one in the comment section.

Another said: “Drowning in a pile of tears now.”

The group – formed in 2022 after winning the idol survival show LaZ Icon – disbanded after a year at the end of their contract.

Daou and Offroad went on to lead Open Label and star as an on-screen couple. Diamond became a soloist with One Music, while Geler is now with label NO1R. Pentor, meanwhile, joined the Starlight Boys idol survival show and will debut with the K-pop boy group POLARIX after being in the top nine.

The meet-up on 11 January was also the first time Pentor was seen with the other members after winning Starlight Boys.

Offroad shared a picture from the gathering saying just one word: “Family”.
