Several Thai musicians – including the band Tilly Birds and Bowkylion – have come out to clarify rumours amid an ongoing harrassment controversy involving Stamp Apiwat and his wife.

Stamp, who is a veteran singer-songwriter, revealed the harrassment allegations at his showcase on 15 January, sending the internet into a flurry.

According to the 42-year-old, he and his wife had been victims of harrassment from an unnamed person and his girlfriend. He also adds that he has taken the case to court and has won a lawsuit against harassment.

Stamp also states that the unnamed person, who is said to work with a band, and his girlfriend would often hang around near Stamp and his wife at music festivals or other shows.

During the legal proceedings, Stamp reveals he was threatened by a general who claimed to be the father of one of the parties involved. He was asked to drop the lawsuit or face a “political case” against him.

Following Stamp’s revelation, several artistes and their labels distanced themselves from the incidenct. Bowkylion and her label What The Duck said they “were not involved in any way” in the matter, warning that they would press charges against “untrue information”.

Another band that came out to clarify was Moving and Cut, who said the band “has no issues working with” Stamp, urging their fans to calm down.

Then, Tilly Birds also released a statement addressing the controversy, where they acknowledged they knew who the other party involved in Stamp’s harrassment case, adding that he worked as a sound engineer with the band.

Tilly Birds also states that they were aware of the issue since 2023, but understood it was a “private matter” between both parties.

It was at the Monster Music Festival in 2024 that Tilly Birds said they were asked by Stamp and his wife to fire the duo as they felt uncomfortable seeing the latter. Tilly Birds said they did not “comply with the request” as they saw that the employment of the person was not related to the ongoing controversy.

Shortly after, Tilly Birds posted an additional statement, this time from their sound engineer, who claims that Stamp’s recount of events was untrue and shared his version of events.

This is a developing story.
