For one day, the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre was turned into a sporting arena of blue and orange.

Hundreds of T-Pop artistes across over 20 labels gathered on 17 May for the first-ever OlymPop, which touts itself as the biggest T-Pop sports competition.

Artistes were split into two teams: Orange Monster and Blue Devil, competing in a series of sports and games, including basketball, futsal as well as baby bike racing, and sumo suit wrestling.

After more than three hours of sports and games, the Orange Monster team was crowned the victor of the inaugural OlymPop. They were champs in categories such as futsal, baby bike racing, and shoot-outs.

The Blue Devil team won the basketball competition, but tied with the Orange Monster team for the 4×100 relay.

Fans were then treated to a special concert at the end of all of the sporting activity.

T-Pop stars from across the labels took to the stage, taking the energy to 100 with hit after hit.

There were also special collaboration stages, including the vocal stage, which saw some of T-Pop’s vocal powerhouses – including Nont Tanont, Sarah Salola, Mind from 4EVE, Mang from bamm, as well as Marckris from BUS – join forces in a series of emotive performances.

Then the dance lines – comprising the likes of Pimma from PiXXiE, Nice from ATLAS, and Gun from Proxie – rocked the stage (literally) with a sizzling rendition of Queen’s We Will Rock You.

The inaugural OlymPop proved that more than their performing chops, T-Pop artistes had a sporting streak in them. The event appears to be back for a second run next year, so until then – lace up the shoes and warm the muscles up!
