GMMTV has terminated its partnership with a director who was found to have made “inappropriate” comments about its actresses on his personal social media account.
The agency on 1 September says it was aware of the allegations involving a director it worked with, who had made “inappropriate comments towards our artistes on his personal social media”.
“These remarks were deemed disrespectful to our artistes and contrary to the professional ethics and values that GMMTV upholds,” it adds, without naming the director involved.
However, ChaPop understands that the director in question is Sakon Wongsinwiset.
Sakon issued an apology on his social media account, acknowledging that his comments were “something I should never have said in the first place”.
Fans briefly trended the hashtag “#GMMTVProtectYourArtists” earlier in the day, calling for GMMTV to take action against the director, and to do more to protect its artistes.
GMMTV says this in its statement: “The company remains firmly committed to creating a respectful, inclusive and safe working environment for all artists and staff, of all genders and ages.”
Sakon is known for projects such as Club Friday: The Series. More recently, he has worked on several projects with GMMTV, including the recently-concluded girls-love series Whale Store XOXO, as well as the boys-love series Only Boo! and Cooking Crush.
