Hip-hip artiste YOUNGOHM bagged a special award at this year’s Music Awards Japan, solidifying his international rise.

At the awards, held on 13 June in Tokyo, YOUNGOHM won the Specia Award: Thai Popular Music for his ubiquitous trackใจฉันตามเธอไป.

It is an international milestone for the 27-year-old, whose win “signals the growing global footprint and influence of Thai hip-hop on the international stage”.

This year’s Music Awards Japan is in its second edition. As with the debut awards in 2025, Music Awards Japan honours not just Japanese music, but the Southeast Asian music scene.

This year’s winners from Southeast Asia include Indonesian singer-songwriter Hindia, who won for his single everything u are.

YOUNGOHM’s win in Japan also comes as he clinches major wins in Thailand: at the recent SOT Music Awards (also in June), he bagged three wins, including for Best Male Solo Artiste.
