GMMTV has been recognised by the Thai government for its “significant” and “vital” role in promoting Thai culture and values to an international audience.

On 4 September, the agency received the Thailand 2025’s Public Diplomacy Award (TPDA2025), which is jointly presented by the Thai foreign ministry and Thailand Foundation.

GMMTV appears to be the sole receipient of the TPDA2025. The award is usually given to between one and three receipients.

It is also the first time in recent years that an entertainment agency has won the award, and underscores the significant clout that GMMTV has among international fans.

In its citation, Thailand Foundation notes the “significant role” GMMTV plays in “promoting and disseminating Thai culture, traditions, customs, festivals…way of life, as well as beliefs, attitudes, modern values that support gender equality, embrace sexual diversity, respect human rights and encourage intercultural understanding”.

It points out the popularity of GMMTV’s LGBTQ series, including its popular boys- and girls- love series, among a growing number of young audiences domestically and internationally. It adds that the series have sparked interest among these audiences to learn the Thai language.

Lastly, Thailand Foundation also recognised GMMTV’s role in disseminating culture globally, noting that between 2021 and 2025, the agency organised more than 400 events – including fan-meets and music-cons – in 18 countries in Asia, Europe and the Americas.

“GMMTV has been cultivating a world-wide international fanbase for Thailand, thereby strengthening long-term and tangible people-to-people ties of cultural diplomacy,” the foundation states.
