As we close 2025, ChaPop looks back at the headlines that shaped T-Pop during the year.

It’s been a drama-filled year for the entertainment industry, with plenty of news that surprised and shocked fans. We look at some of the controversies that made the headlines.

1. STAMP APIWAT INFIDELITY SCANDAL

Talk about kicking off the year with some drama – and whiplash.

On 15 January, Stamp took the opportunity during a show to recount several instances where he and his wife Jerisuda Sriwat were being harrassed, a move that sent shockwaves across the industry.

Yet. five days later – and after several clarifications from other artistes and labels – Stamp made a shocking turnaround and confessed that he had cheated on his wife.

The whole drama involved artistes from across the industry, like Tilly Birds, Cocktail frontman Ohm (who is also Gene Lab’s big boss) and Bowkylion.

2. ONLY MONDAY DRAMA

Only Monday frontman Tee Teepakorn was embroiled in controversy in July, when it emerged that he had cheated on his (now) ex-girlfriend on more than 10 occasions when they were together.

Tee later apologised on social media and acknowledged his wrongdoing, but it was not enough to appease angry fans, many of whom said they were “disappointed” by his infidelity. Some also felt his apology came across as “insincere”, while others said cheating was an “unforgiveable” act.

3. ONLY MONDAY…AGAIN?

Tee from Only Monday found himself back in the news again in December – this time with far more serious consequences.

He was linked to a leak of explicit images of his former girlfriend ‘Bell’, who was also implicated in his infidelity controversy earlier in the year. There had been speculation that Tee had leaked the images and clips online, but the 22-year-old has strongly refuted the claims.

Gene Lab quickly moved to manage the crisis, suspending all official engagements – including a weekend performance at the Big Mountain Music Festival – and removing all music from streaming platforms, while it investigated the allegations.

This dealt a blow to the band’s prospects, with members appearing to be caught offguard by the suspension.

4. BOTH-NEW YEAR’S SHOCKING SPLIT

Fans were thoroughly shocked early this year after news broke that celebrity couple Both-Newyear split, ending a 12-year relationship. The duo had been engaged in September 2024.

Adding to the shock were the cheating allegations that came soon after: London-based Newyear was linked to social media posts of a Ukrainian man (also based in London) and him. That prompted further backlash from fans, who flooded their social media accounts demanding answers.

5. EARTHQUAKE MIS-STEPS

Several T-Pop stars found themselves in hot soup in March, following the devastating earthquake that struck Bangkok and parts of Thailand.

The reason? Remarks that they made online, which drew the ire of netizens for being “inappropriate”. Actor-singer Gemini, for instance, posted a video while at the airport bound for Macau, laughing and shaking his camera, with a caption: “Should I dance or be afraid?”

Meanwhile BUS member Khunpol and YUPP! soloist Galchanie made commments – on a non-related dance video – referencing the earthquake.

The trio have since apologised after being called out online for their insenstive remarks.

6. PECK ATTACKED

White Music’s Peck Palitchoke was attacked by a knife-wielding stranger in the wee hours of the morning, sustaining serious injuries and shocking friends and fans alike.

The attacker was said to have acted out of fear after allegedly attempting to intervene in an altercation that involved Peck. The singer was admitted to hospital where doctors confirmed his injuries did not affect his facial and oral nerves.

Since then, however, Peck has been out of the spotlight, with his time spent in recovery.

7. VIOLETTE’S SEA GAMES PERFORMANCE

Thailand hosted the SEA Games in December, with Universal Music Thailand soloist Violette Wautier featured on the games’ official soundtrack. She was one of the performers at the games’ opening ceremony, where a miscommunication by organisers over a requirement to lip-sync created a jarring moment for viewers at home.

Violette’s microphone was switched on – but her in-ear monitors were switched off – despite reassurances that the opposite would take place.

Hours after her performance ended on 9 December, she took to social media to clarify the circumstances surrounding the performance, adding that she believed her “reputation, image, dignity, career and dreams have been destroyed” after the incident.

Organisers have since issued an apology to Violette, Twopee, as well as F.HERO, days after her comments ignited a social media firestorm.
