PERSES has just released Bodyguard, their comeback single that is oozing every bit attitude, complete with a catchy chorus and ultra-slick moves
The GNEST boy group is part of the recent trend of T-Pop boy groups to have released the so-called ‘attitude track’ – a beat-heavy hip-hop pop song with plenty of swag. These tracks, which usually mark a shift in the group’s sound, also come with a good dose of slick dance moves, some of which are instantly iconic.
ChaPop looks at some of our favourite ‘attitude tracks’ which have been released in recent months. (Spoiler: they’re all single-worded song titles!)
1. Bodyguard – PERSES
The newest track on the block, but definitely no less impressive: the electro-meets-hiphop sound shows a different, more mature side of the group, especially coming from their recent slate of down-tempo tracks.
2. Trap U – DICE
Talk about a marked shift in sound: the Sonray Music group tapped The Richman Toy’s Jap and Phat55 for Trap U, giving the track an addictive trap-hop sound. And can we talk about the dance break?
3. Liar – BUS Because of you I shine
Like their brother group, the boys from BUS also showcase a different side with Liar. It’s got an irresistable beat, an instantly iconic chorus dance, and a visually stunning music video.
4. Sugoi – LYKN
The Riser Music boy group channel Japanese electro-dance in Sugoi, and do it to great effect. We especially love Hong’s rapping and William’s signature ad-libs.
5. เข็ดมั้ยล่ะ? (REPEAT) – ATLAS
Less of an ‘attitude’ track but still a different sound: the XOXO Entertainment group are giving early Y2K boy group (think ‘N Sync and Backstreet Boys)
