New music this week (19-25 August)

1. เหมือนวิวาห์ (Rain wedding) – Jeff Satur

What a treat for the ears: the calming and almost haunting vocals of Jeff Satur overlaying a pared-back combo of the guitar and traditional phin. The song, which is the soundtrack to The Paradise of Thorns, speaks of – through heartwrenchingly beautiful lyrics – the inability for the LGBTQ+ community to get married (a key theme in the movie).

2. ง้อ (Alright) – Fourth

Riser Music’s Fourth makes his comeback this week, with the upbeat track ง้อ (Alright), produced by URBOYTJ. It’s got cute lyrics – ‘Please smile, who’s mad at me? / Don’t you know your smile is the cutest to see?’ and an even catchier dance.

3. หรือแค่ภาพลวง – Jet ATLAS

ATLAS member Jet Patpaiboon sings the soundtrack of the Workpoint23 drama เมืองลับแล which will air on 31 August. The song shows why Jet – who also stars in the series – is the main vocal for the boy group.

4. Goodnite – PiXXiE

Also bringing on the cute this week are the girls from PiXXiE, with Goodnite. The running joke among fans is the fact that music was released at 9am, prompting one to comment: “Now I want to sleep at 9am.”

5. ไม่ใช่เธอ (Position) – ALALA

The girls from ALALA are back with a new brand, new look and a stunningly new music video. ไม่ใช่เธอ (Position) is a different sound from the girls’ usually dance-pop songs, and nicely showcases each member’s vocal ranges.

6. อยู่คนเดียวกับเขา – Zom Marie

Zom Marie returns with what she calls her “first sad song in two years” – one about being in a relationship but yet feeling alone. The music video also stars GMMTV actor ‘Pond’ Naravit – it is his first-ever role in an MV, we hear.
